ONTARE. REVISTA DE INVESTIGACIÓN DE LA FACULTAD DE INGENIERÍA
This article aims to analyze the implementation of the manual for compensation allocation due to biodiversity loss applied to the road infrastructure sector in Colombia. This requires a state of the art evaluation on biodiversity, ecosystem services (SE by its acronym in Spanish), biodiversity loss, compensation for biodiversity loss, and environmental impacts caused by roadways in order to analyze the principles of compensation defined by Colombian law, considering the changes in the landscape that have been caused by the fragmentation of ecosystems, and taking into account that during the last decade, fragmentation has become a global environmental problem. On that basis, the methodology that was used, includes a review and an analysis of the current state of the art in light of the compensation in the road infrastructure sector. After that, a management proposal for the road infrastructure in Colombia is presented; one that allows including William Eduardo Mosquera Laverde 33 the fragmentation of ecosystems into the analysis of compensation for road infrastructure linear projects, and that contribute with the no net loss of biodiversity.
