Abstract

This research allows us to know the components and the evolution of the middle class in Colombia, based on the economic literature and studies that have been published by organizations such as the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE by its acronym in Spanish), FEDESARROLLO and Banco de la República in Colombia. In addition, it presents a review of the middle class in Latin America and the Caribbean, in order to understand and determine whether Colombia is mostly a middle class country.
