Abstract

The phenomenon of human trafficking remains in force, and rising in the face of conditions that guarantee an adequate scenario for this scourge to continue to plague humanity. These conditions include the armed conflict, the unequal access to migrant rights, and the economic crisis; factors that facilitate the acts, means, and purposes of human trafficking. This text addresses the problem of human trafficking and sexual exploitation in Colombia, a country where the conditions mentioned above are absolutely clear, and specifically points out on how cybersex trafficking has been increasing on sexcam platforms, allowing not only the exploitation of the prostitution of others and sexual exploitation, but also its increase due to the conditions that the country has lived since 2016, as it has also been favored by the inflow of money in the form of remittances that open the door to the laundering of assets and the financing of transnational crime. The analysis shows that the conditions in Colombia are ideal for these platforms to grow, in view of the precariousness of salaries and the lack of educational or labor opportunities, added to the lack of optimization of the national government in the management of resources in the pandemic, and the high percentage of unemployment in people under 30 years of age; besides, the fact that Venezuelan migrants find an option for obtaining resources in these platforms.
