Abstract

I am writing this article at a time when performing arts venues are beginning to open again and we are returning to a pseudo-normality. This period of detention and adaptation makes me reflect on my experience as executive producer of Tryo Teatro Banda from a double context that marks a before and after; the pandemic and the so-called “social outbreak” in Chile. This text was written in October 2021. As of the date of publication, it should be noted that Chile rejected the new constitution and continues to be governed by the one imposed in the 1980s under the civil-military dictatorship of Pinochet. Gabriel Boric was elected president. The objective of this article is to highlight the internal processes of political reformulation that the country went through with support from local stage production. We continue in the same cultural crisis and with greater depth, the future looks very complex. The following lines are a personal reflection supported by direct participant and non-participant observation with the professional perspective that my condition as an agent within the field enables. In all cases the support for the reflections is the publicly accessible documentation of newspapers, magazines, programs.
