Abstract

This document contains the information corresponding to a case study performed on the process of cultural adaptation of the Chinese company Fuyao Glass Industry Group to the American market. The research was aimed at widening the field of recognition of the entry barriers, particularly the cultural barriers, that a company can cross in order to develop its activities and expand its market in another culture. For this reason and by collecting information via the case study, we identified the following entry barriers for the company under study: a) language barrier, b) lack of synergy and cultural intelligence, c) problems managing cultural diversity and imposition, and d) omission of the factors of the international mechanism of organizational environment. Thus, the analysis allows us to establish that by objectively understanding those general cultural perspectives that represent a potential risk for the company, it is possible to carry out contingency plans or strategies aimed at reducing these barriers and promoting business growth in different cultures. Likewise, the research contributes significantly to the assimilation of interculturality in the business environment, and on its importance and scope in the international panorama.
