Abstract

All the problems associated to the mass production of pigswill in pig farms have to do with foul smell, the spread of pathogens, and the contamination of water sources and soils. In this study, we implemented a biodigester as a sustainable solution to take advantage of the biosol produced by anaerobic biodigestion of porquinaza and to promote the circular economy in the reservation El Verjón. In order to demonstrate the potential use of biosol as a soil improver, it was prepared and used in a red radish crop -Raphanus sativus. The results suggested that the use of biosol as a fertilizer is appropriate, as the weight of the radishes was similar to the weight of the sample radishes that used commercial fertilizer, with the difference that longer roots were developed with the biosol. Also, the radishes sown with biosol had a spherical shape, while the radishes with commercial fertilizer took an elongated elliptical shape. However, the commercial fertilizer allowed better growth of the leaves and stems of the seedling. In order to increase the capacity of the biosol as a soil improver, we recommend to add nitrogen to the biosol to improve leaf and stem growth, and achieve a better yield than with the commercial fertilizer. This study showed that the biosol obtained is a good alternative for fertilization, since it reduces the costs and environmental impact of conventional fertilization and promotes the competitiveness of the Verjón Alto trail in the locality of Santa Fe in Bogotá.
