Abstract

This article presents a descriptive study on the possible ways to include people who receive international remittances into the banking services, in view of the rise that migration of Colombians to different parts of the world and their insertion in different jobs to generate resources that are sent to their families in Colombia has had in recent years. This document demonstrates how in the case of Bogotá, there are several recurring factors preventing these people to make the decision of opening a financial product, either because they do not meet their economic expectations or because they fear entering a financial system that thoroughly investigates the origin of these resources. In the same way, the lack of products oriented to this segment is identified, particularly on the alternatives with virtual platforms. It was through a measuring instrument such as a survey and determining a specific group of bank users, that the perceptions about these banking limitations were taken.

Finally, the main demographic characteristics international remittances beneficiaries and the reasons why they are not customers of the financial system are determined, giving some recommendations on adjustments that entities should implement in their products and services, in order to effectively link this segment of potential customers.
