This article presents some partial results of the design and implementation of a Study and Research Activity (AEI by its abbreviation in Spanish) based on the Anthropological Theory of the Didactic (ATD), carried out in the ninth grade class of a district school in Bogotá. It is a design whose educational objective consisted in the introduction of the notion of functions, by means of its application in administration and economics, in order to contribute to the didactic purpose of mathematizing mathematics, as a tool that allows to articulate and give meaning to mathematics in schools.
