Using digital tools in the face of social emergency. School of Architecture, Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo
Abstract
The following article aims at showing how technological innovation, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), and instructional design are pieces that allow implementing a digital learning platform "without a platform", through a web environment, based on an open and free code, which makes it possible to establish a distance education system so classroom subjects can turn into non-attendance subjects, opening a portal to distance education. This solution was proposed as a way to overcome the impossibility of teaching face-to-face classes at the School of Architecture of Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo -México-, which was closed for 66 days due to a political-social problem. The document presents the results and highlights that the networking and service provision of the platform took place in a brief period of only five days; likewise, we observed how communities are generated from the network, and are outlined to be an instrument of social cohesion. From the results, we can bring up the functionality of this digital tool, to regulate, improve, and enrich on-site activities, as well as its relevance and necessity, as it has more and more reason to exist, especially in the face of a global health emergency such as the one we are experiencing in 2020.
